Education
I am an accomplished classical pianist and dedicated teacher, committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians. After earning my Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree from the Royal College of Music (UK), I pursued a Master of Performance and an Artist Diploma in Instrumental Studies (Piano) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (also in the UK). Furthering my commitment to music education and to the development of my teaching practice, I completed a Master’s Degree in Music Teaching at the University of Minho (Portugal), as well as a Master of Arts in Music Education – The Teaching Musician, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance (UK).
Teaching Experience & Philosophy
I am a Piano Coach at Tonebase and a Certified Teacher in the Roskell Method, as well as a member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), an ISM Registered Private Teacher and a staff member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) Portugal. My experience also includes teaching piano and music theory both privately and at the Greenwich Music School, the London Central Music School, and MusicTeachers.co.uk.
My teaching approach reflects my extensive training in piano performance and pedagogy, offering personalised and engaging music tuition, and helping students master complex concepts with ease. I have successfully prepared students for exams and performances, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
As a Certified Teacher in the Roskell Method by the Roskell Academy at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, I help students develop excellent and consistent technique to avoid future playing-related tension, injury and pain. This helps students progress confidently and with ease.
Performance Highlights
I have performed across Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Greece, in venues such as Porto’s Coliseu, Lisbon’s Terreiro do Paço (as part of the Eurovision Festival 2018), London’s Barbican Hall (accompanist for the Gold Medal Competition 2021), Steinway Hall, the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, and Thessaloniki’s Concert Hall. My concerto appearances include a tour in Portugal with Lisbon’s Metropolitana Orchestra playing W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, R. Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the Artave Orchestra, and E. Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Beiras’ Philarmonic Orchestra.
Awards & Recognition
Throughout my career, I have received various accolades, including multiple first prizes in the CCM Competition, the Ministry of Education (Portugal) Merit prize, the Dra. Manuela Carvalho prize, and prizes at both the Verão Clássico and the Musical Odyssey Summer Masterclasses. I have also received scholarships whilst studying at the Royal College of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and was a finalist in the Yamaha Scholarship Competition. Additionally, I have been supported by Talent Unlimited, the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, and Help Musicians UK.
Conducting & Collaborations
I have developed an interest in conducting and participated in two European Union Youth Orchestra Summer Tours, playing piano and celesta under conductors such as Xian Zhang and Vasily Petrenko. I have also collaborated with various orchestras and conductors, pianists, and chamber music coaches, and explored the harpsichord, fortepiano, percussion, and violin as second instruments.
